Obama’s use of signing statements has clearly shown his willingness to continue the George W. Bush legacy– not only of torture and illegal detainment, but in the dangerous trend of de facto rule by “executive fiat.” Worse, such signing statements put in place a precedent for future presidents to follow– or expand upon.

After the legislation cleared Congress, the ACLU commented that signing the bill “will damage both his legacy and American’s reputation for upholding the rule of law,” while executive director of the Human Rights Watch blasted the President for being ‘on the wrong side of history,’ noting that “Obama will go down in history as the president who enshrined indefinite detention without trial in US law.”

Presidential candidate Ron Paul went even further, declaring that the NDAA bill begins the official establishment of martial law in the United States (see video).

Rush: Romney Camp Behind Anti-Gingrich Stories

“Jeffery Lord, like me, didn’t understand all this stuff with Newt yesterday,” the conservative pundit said, referring to a series of stories that ran earlier in the week casting Gingrich in a negative light for his anti-Ronald Reagan remarks while a young representative.

Abrams’ article is “devastating” to the Republican presidential candidate, Limbaugh said Thursday.

“It seems like Elliott Abrams has been had,” he said. “I’m just going to have to assume here that Elliott Abrams was spoon-fed this stuff by the Romney people. This is a stunning piece, but the genie’s out of the bottle. You can’t put all this back in the bottle now.”

One who cannot just magically pronounce who was behind what. If may be true that Mitt Romney's campaign leaked this information. Or the DNC or Obamas machine or any other number of sources. Besides, Rush did not say, as this article title suggests, say that Romney was behind it. Rush said that he assumed that Romney's campaign was behind this. I
f the first case, Rush is expressing his supposition. In the second case, the article is misleading regarding what Rush actually said. In both cases, this is more incorrect and misleaidng that what they are make accusations about. Plus, Rush doesn't deny the truth of the charges cited by Elliot Abrams.
I say, let it rip for all of them. If they are not vetted now. they will certainly fash the fires when Obama gets after him, backed by a billion dollar war chest.

Come on Newt! Although it IS true that Romney has been more liberal on these issues than most conservatives are happy about, why not just call it what it is. That's bad enough.
But to say blatantly untrue stuff like this just harms Gringriche's believability on other issues. Maybe Newt knows something about his constituency that I don't, but surely they are not THAT STUPID.
