Agents threaten to confiscate son’s bags, have him arrested as punishment for filming ordeal

Video of an incident recorded over the memorial weekend at Sky Harbor International in Phoenix, AZ, documents how the TSA deal with people who are traumatized by grossly invasive enhanced pat downs.

After a woman refused to go through a full body scanner she was pulled aside and made to undergo the pat down procedure. When the TSA agent touched the woman’s breasts, she broke down into tears and screamed for a police officer.

When police officers arrived on the scene they led the woman away and told her that unless she would submit to the full pat down procedure she would not be able to fly.

“Why won’t you help me? You’re a police officer why won’t you help me?” the woman asks in the video.

All the while the woman’s son was filming the ordeal on his phone, having to constantly fend off threats from TSA agents falsely claiming he was breaking the law. The agents also threatened to confiscate the man’s luggage, even though he had been through the screening process.

How long will Americans allow this kind of over-the-top abuse of power in the name of "security" to be unleashed upon our citizens. As is evident in this video the agents of the TSA are abusing their authority by telling this woman's son to quit filming the incident and telling them it is illegal to video such events. It is the only defense that citizens have to keep these arrogant jerks from abusing their self-supposed powers.

LONDON – Scientists on Thursday blamed Europe's worst recorded food-poisoning outbreak on a "super-toxic" strain of E. coli bacteria that may be brand new.

But while suspicion has fallen on raw tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce as the source of the germ, researchers have been unable to pinpoint the food responsible for the frightening illness, which has killed at least 18 people, sickened more than 1,600 and spread to least 10 European countries.

An alarmingly large number of victims — about 500 — have developed kidney complications that can be deadly.

Chinese and German scientists analyzed the DNA of the E. coli bacteria and determined that the outbreak was caused by "an entirely new, super-toxic" strain that contains several antibiotic-resistant genes, according to a statement from the Shenzhen, China-based laboratory BGI. It said the strain appeared to be a combination of two types of E. coli.

"This is a unique strain that has never been isolated from patients before," Hilde Kruse, a food safety expert at the World Health Organization, told The Associated Press. The new strain has "various characteristics that make it more virulent and toxin-producing" than the many E. coli strains people naturally carry in their intestines.

Washington weighs security after "serious" Google allegation - Yahoo! News

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Washington scrambled on Thursday to assess whether security had been compromised after Google Inc revealed a major hacker attack targeting U.S. officials that the Internet giant pegged to China.

"These allegations are very serious," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said.

"We take them seriously; we're looking into them," Clinton told reporters a day after the Internet giant said it had disrupted a campaign aimed at stealing passwords of hundreds of Google email account holders, including senior U.S. government officials, Chinese activists and journalists.

Google's announcement fuels debate in Washington over China's intentions in cyberspace, which the United States has identified as a potential flashpoint for future conflict.

Neither Google nor the U.S. government has said the Chinese government was behind the attacks, and the U.S. State Department said it had not raised the issue with Beijing.

Google only said the attack appeared to originate in China.

Beijing nevertheless reacted angrily to Google's charge, saying it was "unacceptable" to blame Beijing and allegations that China supports hacking "have ulterior motives."

Clinton said Google told the State Department before it made its public announcement on Wednesday, and the FBI was investigating, with Google.

The White House said it had no reason to believe official government emails were hacked in the Google incident, and officials at many agencies stressed that government employees were directed not to use private accounts to discuss sensitive issues.

"Rule number one is: don't do anything stupid," one national security official said.

Some government agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, block employees from accessing personal accounts from work. But there is no blanket ban and other agencies do allow it.

We should thank them; this kind of activity will only get stronger and more capable. It is the responsibility of our government to keep the Internet safe without compromising individual rights. Instead of using dubious and unacceptable means such as they are via the TSA, they should cut that program and pend some of the money saved on hiring private security firms to beaf of our Internet security.

Airman discharged under 'don't ask, don't tell' - Yahoo! News

The service member was discharged April 29, Air Force spokesman Lt. Col. Todd Vician said late Thursday.

"The airman in the case asked to be separated expeditiously," Vician said, adding that he didn't know other details of the case, nor the gender of the service member. The Air Force uses the term "airman" for both men and women.

The firing is also the first since Defense Secretary Robert Gates in October made it harder to throw someone out of the military for being openly gay. Gates at the time ordered that all dismissals under don't ask, don't tell be decided by the person's service secretary in consultation with the military's general counsel and Gates' personnel chief.

Gates said the purpose of narrowing those in charge of dismissal was to "ensure uniformity and care in the enforcement" at a time of "legal uncertainty." The law was under assault in the courts at the time and a federal judge in California had ordered the military to stop enforcing it.

A gay softball organization can keep its rule limiting the number of heterosexual players on each team, but allegations by three players who say they were disqualified from a tournament because they weren't gay enough can proceed to trial, a federal judge said.

The North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance oversees gay softball leagues in dozens of U.S. cities and runs an annual tournament called the Gay Softball World Series. Three men claim in a lawsuit filed last year that their team's second-place finish in the 2008 tournament in Washington state was nullified because they are bisexual, not gay, and thus their team exceeded the limit of two non-gay players.

At the end of March 2011, by which time the Chinese had dropped their Treasury bill holdings 97 percent from their peak, the publicly marketable segment of the U.S. national debt had almost doubled from August 2008, hitting $9.11 trillion. Of that $9.11 trillion, $5.8 trillion was in intermediate-term Treasury notes, $1.7 trillion was in short-term Treasury bills; $931.5 billion was in long-term Treasury bonds, and $640.7 billion was in TIPS.

Before the end of March 2012, the Treasury must redeem all of the $1.7 trillion in Treasury bills that were extant as of March 2011 and find new or old buyers who will continue to invest in U.S. debt. But, for now, the Chinese at least do not appear to be bullish customers of short-term U.S. debt.

Treasury bills carry lower interest rates than longer-term Treasury notes and bonds, but the longer term notes and bonds are exposed to a greater risk of losing their value to inflation. To the degree that the $1.7 trillion in short-term U.S. Treasury bills extant as of March must be converted into longer-term U.S. Treasury securities, the U.S. government will be forced to pay a higher annual interest rate on the national debt.

The Fed, which deems itself an independent entity within the federal government, placed the flag at the request of PRISM, a group of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender bank employees, to coincide with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month.

Jim Strader, a bank spokesman, said the flag was raised to fly for the month of June, and that there are no plans to change the timetable. It hangs under the American flag on a pole in front of the building.

"We are flying the pride flag as an example of our commitment to the values of acceptance and inclusion," Sally Green, the bank's first vice president and chief operating officer, said earlier this week.

Greenspan 'Scared' Over Deficit; Calls for Debt Ceiling Rise - CNBC

In an interview with CNBC, the former central bank chief described himself as a "small government, free-market economist" who nonetheless believes that in order to raise revenue and close the debt gap, 1990s-era taxes must be reinstituted.

It's a measure, he said, of how serious the problem has become.

"The fact that I am in favor of going back to the Clinton tax structure is merely an indicator of how scared I am of this debt problem that has emerged and its order of magnitude," he said.

The marginal tax rates fell in the early 2000s under former President George W. Bush, who instituted sweeping cuts that last year were renewed in a deal between President Barack Obama and congressional Republicans.

But the rates, particularly those on Americans earning more than $200,000 a year, have been the focus of intense debate and are considered in peril depending on how next year's elections go. Congressional Democrats see higher taxes as a key to raising revenue to close the budget gap.

My only clue is that Cas Sunstein is his Regulatory Czar. In the 40's and 50's they used to execute people like Sunstein. My how they change. Sustein is the author of the manual telling radicals how to crash the US government. He relished the Watts Riots. He was an avowed communist then and a died-in-the-wool one now. How can this guy be writing regulations. Our presient was his student. This explains it all.

This gap between spending commitments and revenue last year equals more than one-third of the nation's gross domestic product.

This IS NOT all President Obama'sfault. BUT much of it can be laid squarely at his feet. He certainly has not helped the situation. Now, when virtually every economist is admitting that we have big problems, he's not even going that far. The way most people see it is that we are on a collision course with disaster.
