You can buy many parts kits minus the receivers and/barrels without any problem. You can buy many receivers that have been formed but not yet drilled without an FFL. It is entirely legal to do. It is also entirely legal to drill and tap the receivers yourself and assemble weapons. But you better get them while you can.

There is an old adage, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." This week the media is trying to convince us that support for Senator Feinstein's anti-gun legislation is weak, but if we are not PRO-ACTIVE, the legislation will pass as written. You will wake up just in time for SHOT Show with new laws that make your AR-15 a Class 3 weapon. This means that if you want to keep your tactical rifles, you will have to register them, pay a $5-$200 tax, and notify the government if you intend to take them out of state. You will also completely waive your 4th Amendment rights to reasonable search and seizure. ATF will have the right to knock on your door and inspect the weapons anytime they want. You will also see an end to standard capacity magazines. This isn't a threat. It isn't political posturing. Diane Feinstein and the anti-gun machine have already introduced the legislation, and it will be rammed through Congress and signed by the President if we do not Stand As One and act today.

Please contact your legislators immediately, and post the links above to your discussion boards. Also please contact all of the gun companies you do business with and ask them to take action now and don't sit on their resources in reaching out to the gunowners of America. All of them have mailing lists, and all of them are sitting on them pretending that they don't have any responsibility, while doing record business in the stuff that is going to be banned or regulated. This 2nd Amendment crisis is not about KA-CHING. We call out to Midway USA, Gunbroker, Brownells, Sportsmen's Guide, Cabelas and all the firearms and accessory manufacturers. If you have a list, use it. We must Stand As One if we are to defeat this threat to our freedom. Aside from one NRA-ILA email notifying us about the legislation, even the NRA has been silent. Facebook isn't enough. Our testing has shown that the effectiveness of Facebook is very small. You MUST EMAIL YOUR LISTS THIS WEEK before the legislation gains public support. We are about to enter a dark time in 2nd Amendment freedom and political wrangling from the NRA isn't going to cut it this far out from an election. The legislators need to hear from us, that we will work to defeat them in their next election bid.

This is not an alarmist position. The anti-gun machine was prepared for this opportunity, and they are very well organized. Senator Feinstein herself admitted that she has been working since last year to investigate all of the loopholes from the last "Assault Weapons Ban" and eliminate them. That means that this time there will be no thumbhole stocks, no sawed off flashhiders, no California "bullet buttons." It is almost as though the anti-gunners allowed the old ban to end in hopes of making a better one this time. This legislation is extremely comprehensive and if it passes, every tactical rifle in America will instantly become a Class 3 weapon. No new guns will be produced at all, effectively shuttering every AR-15 manufacturer in the country.

Precedent Teaches Us The Left Really Wants ALL Our Guns | CNS News

When the Supreme Court, or any other court for that matter, makes a ruling in a case they first look for precedent, in other words to see if there has been a court decision rendered on the same subject in the past and usually defer to the old decision in ruling on the case.

The greatest teacher in life is experience; it only takes one time of burning your fingers on a hot stove to know that you never want to touch another one.

The next greatest teacher is observation, paying attention to someone else's experiences and profiting from their wins and losses, trials and errors.

In my generation I have seen the rise and fall of fascism, communism, different experiments in socialism and the kind of downright social and fiscal foolishness that leads to what has recently happened in Greece.

There is an old saying that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

There is at this time a huge debate in our nation about the private ownership of firearms. The president and the anti-gun crowd claim they do not want to do away with private ownership, that they only want to modify the existing laws having to do with assault weapons -which can be construed as anything in your gun cabinet of any heavy caliber - and clips for semiautomatic weapons holding more than 10 bullets.

I submit to you that what is going on here is the first assault on private gun ownership

They will take what ever they can get now and continue to chip away until all you can legally own to protect your family with is a baseball bat.

Did you know that one of the major reasons the Japanese did not attempt to land troops on the American coast during World War Two is because they knew that Americans owned guns and would fight tooth and nail for every inch of shore line.

Hitler disarmed Germany, Stalin disarmed Russia, and Mao disarmed China.

The mainstream media is quick to report any kind of gun violence but omit the stories where lives have been saved by legally owned guns in the hands of good citizens and the stories are many and varied all across the country.

Let's look at some precedent:

In 1997, many Aussies were forced to give up their privately owned firearms. Over 630,000 were turned in to be destroyed as part of a "buyback plan" by the Australian government. Total cost of the buyback? $500,000,000.

One year later, here were the results:

Homicides nationwide: Up 6.2%

Assaults nationwide: Up 9.6%

Armed robberies nationwide: Up 44%

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms went up 300%.

Five years later, a "continued modest decline" in homicides was noted, but what has gone up in the land down under over the past few years is the number of assaults. Overall, assaults are up 40% and sexual assaults are up 20%.

Across the pond, Great Britain passed a handgun ban in 1998. Ten years later, many British "bobbies" are armed for the first time because of the amount of illegal guns in the hands of criminals.

Man killed by police described by neighbors as hoarder; more than two dozen animals removed from home » The Commercial Appeal

After entering the home around 6:20 p.m. Friday, officers encountered the man, who pointed a loaded handgun at them. A TACT officer then shot the suspect, Armstrong said, adding that he believes the man suffered from a mental illness.

"It's certainly disturbing," Armstrong said. "Most of the neighbors were saddened, but are now relieved that they no longer have to live in that situation. I can't begin to imagine being a resident of that neighborhood."

Residents of the Houston Levee Trails subdivision, who would not identify themselves for fear of retaliation, said Moore was "a collector of many things."

Armstrong said 28 animals, including hens, chickens, rabbits, and a dog, were removed from the home by MAS Friday night. He said that although it had been reported that possums and raccoon were living in the home, none were recovered, but it was like they were there at some point because the man left his back door open at all times so the animals could come and go freely.

Hmmmm. This man was shot by Memphis police while he was purportedly holding a gun while in his own home. The shooting took place while police were serving a warrant for suspected animal hoarding violations. The police statement says that neighbors are saddened, but relieved that they no longer have to deal with this odd neighbor. Whaaaaaa?

From the Memphis police department’s website, on the Special Ops page:

Tact Unit

This elite unit, specially trained to respond to various emergency situations, is responsible for handling barricade situations, hostage rescues, counter terrorism, and high risk felony apprehensions.

And apparently, serving search warrants to suspected animal hoarders upon request of Memphis Animal Services.  The MPD’s Tact unit “forced entry into the home” of an alleged animal hoarder last night.  The unnamed man reportedly raised a gun and was shot to death by police.

While there is no confirmation at this time that the victim was a hoarder, given that MAS suspected same should have raised a mental illness flag.  After all, hoarding is an illness, and MAS officers should know this.  Further:

Police say the suspected animal hoarder told neighbors he’d go down fighting in order to protect his collection of pets.

Again, this should raise a red flag regarding mental illness.  This would not be the sort of situation where a special ops unit should kick down the door to the possibly mentally ill, armed person’s home – at least I wouldn’t think that would be a good idea.

A neighbor described the killing as “shocking” to WMC-TV:

More shocking is what police say they found inside the home of a suspected animal hoarder on Cameron Ridge Trail.

“Inside the house we did find a lot of cats, dogs,” Sgt. Karen Rudolph said. “I’ve been told there were raccoons, possums, chickens.”

A lot of dogs and cats.  And she heard there were other animals.  Shocking?  The Commercial Appeal describes the home as containing “multiple cats, dogs, raccoon, possums and chickens.”  I’m having troubling reconciling the words “a lot” and “multiple” with “hoarder” and “shot”.

No word on what happened to the animals.
