Anyone who has retired honorably from the military in the US who can legally purchase weapons can buy these rifles directly from the CMP regardless of which state they live in. This is one of the perks only those who serve in the military enjoy. Obviously, those who have served in the military have demonstrated the ability to responsibly and safely use firearms.
Last year, President Obama ordered a million M1-Garand Rifles, which are now deemed curio and collector authorized rifles, each a piece of history, be destroyed rather than being recovered from South Korea where they had been on loan since the Korean War. At an average of the going retail rate, of one-thousand dollars each (these were in exceptional condition and would likely bring much more) these rifles represented a billion dollars in revenue.

Not only is this a huge waste, it is disrespectful to American Veterans, as this is for whom these sales are intended. Does the Commander in Chief fear fear returned veterans. This wa s a very bad choice.
