[Note the Archive Link above that goes back to 2007]
Welcome to my photography weblog. You will find four kinds of content within my posts that began in 2007. It all began as a how-to photography site. Early posts were mostly pertaining to how to take particular kinds of salable pictures and make money with a camera. This advice is practical and is the result of half a century of my own experience as a photographer earning my living from photography full-time or at other times part-time. I began as a silver halide (film) photographer. I successfully transitioned into digital photography early-on. These how-to's become less frequent as the weblog progressed through the years--but have never stopped completely--giving way, by popular demand to posts about various vintage film cameras that I have owned at one time or another.
These have become a resource for collectors and photographers. They reflect my firsthand opinions regarding the use of these various old cameras. Within these vintage camera posts I have also tried to provide my own subjective historical context both as it applied to photography and as it applied to then-current events as I saw them at the time I used these cameras. Although, subjective, I have tried to be accurate in my description of technical specifications and facts about the cameras. I have undoubtedly made some mistakes as I have intentionally tried to make these observations from memory so as to not be influenced by other literature and opinions.
The third type of posts are re-posts of everything from helpful photography articles written by professionals, to third-party photographs that I like, to product reviews as I ran across them. I often, but not always, make some commentary regarding whatever third-party material I post.I may draw some conclusion or use the posts to make a particular point.
The last kind of post is of my own photography. I post some albums and I post some illustrative photographs and I post some here and there just for filler. This blog is a work in progress. I never realized that it would become as widely read as it has become, or I would have taken greater pains with spelling and rewrites much earlier. I am going back and editing as I have time--but time is getting shorter every day. I hope I get caught up one day--but until then, please bear with me and realize that it is what it is.
Although this weblog is not any kind of definitive word on anything, it should be helpful to some if not all who read it. I have tried to share information that would have been helpful to me as a growing, working photographer. I am sure at times I have run-on self-indulgently. I apologize to those for whom this is not helpful. I will attempt to edit this element out for the most part. In some cases I may leave it for the benefit of my posterity.
