9. Olive Oil
Though it is more expensive than other oils, olive oil is still a very cheap source of extremely nutritious mono- and polyunsaturated fats. You can cook your eggs, meat, and potatoes in olive oil, and skinny guys can even add it to a shake to easily up their caloric intake.
There was a time when my metabolism seemed to burn up every calorie that I ate. I was skn and bones, although I had a voracious appetite that I usually kept quite satisfied. This article would have been helpful to me then as I so wanted to gain more weight.
Although this is not the case at this time in life, I do have a brother who desperately needs to add weight. He is restricted by how much of some of these foods he can eat due to the high potassium and high sodium, but some of them could literally be lifesavers.
Olive oil is a wnder food. It can add bulk while it also cleans out your arteries, lowers bad cholesterol, and raises good cholestero--just to name a few of its many life-preserving benefits. Yes, it takes a little getting used to, but the taste can easily be aquired, or if not that, at least concealed.
Eggs have often been considered bad for your heart due to the cholesterol concentration. However, it is now held by researchers that this niacin-rich food can actually reduce arterial plaque build-up. Niacin offsets the cholesterol gain.
