Digital Photography with Flashbulbs.
This artical has some merit; the idea that flash bulbs are a thing of antiquity is not altogethr true. Some applications requiring a lot of light on location might best be met with sophisticated arrangements of flashbulbs.
One of thes links reminded me of my youthful days spelunking in the Ozarks. It was common knowledge to use flashbulbs for lighting huge cavernous caves--which I did. What the linked artical did not mention is that due to the high-intensity of electrical energy eminating from the bulbs, that open flames were sometimes reality. Water and sediment anywhere, including caves, produce methane. Methane has a sewer smell whichis easily recognizable. If it is too pungent to stand, then you need to get out of the cave or risk asphixiation. However, less notable quantities may still be ignited by any kind of open flames and cause explosions--including flames produced by flashbulbs.
