Reporting from Washington—Newly obtained emails show that the White House was better informed about a failed gun-tracking operation on the border with Mexico than was previously known.
Three White House national security officials were given some details about the operation, dubbed Fast and Furious. The operation allowed firearms to be illegally purchased, with the goal of tracking them to Mexican drug cartels. But the effort went out of control after agents lost track of many of the weapons.
The supervisor of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives operation in Phoenix specifically mentioned Fast and Furious in at least one email to a White House national security official, and two other White House colleagues were briefed on reports from the supervisor, according to White House emails and a senior administration official.
But the senior administration official said the emails, obtained Thursday by The Times, did not prove that anyone in the White House was aware of the covert "investigative tactics" of the operation.
"The emails validate what has been said previously, which is no one at the White House knew about the investigative tactics being used in the operation, let alone any decision to let guns walk," said the official, who was not authorized to speak about it publicly. "To the extent that some [national

The plot thickens as it becomes more fully evident that multiple White House officials were informed via email of the ATF debacle involving illegal gun-running which resulted in the death(s) of people.
Many believe this was an Administration-sanctioned effort to plant guns in Mexico which could be allowed to be tracked back into the . Although gun-banners have long held that dangerous fully automatic weapons used by Mexican drug gangs originated from legal sales in the USA, the facts never supported this stance; the truth is that the USA sell very few automatic weapons through gun dealers. Truly automatic weapons are illegal in the USA without extremely special circumstances, as they are classified as machine guns These sales are closely tracked by the government and are very few in numbers.
Automatic weapons come through Mexico into the USA primarily from South and Central America. Countries in the southern latitudes were given huge amounts of American, Russian, and Chinese automatic military weapons during the cold war in efforts by the Super-Powers to court the politics of ruling governments. These weapons became big resources for revenue from the black market.
Besides this, both Brazil and Argentina are known manufafturers of excellent firearms, which they export.
The idea that the USA's leagal gun trade within the states is behind the Mexican gun violence is a big lie that has long been used as a false argument to foster the relevence of banning leagal sales of guns in America.
Now we have absolute evidence that the current administration "planted" automatic weapons as evidence. This ill-fated plan was illegal from the beginning, besides being stupid and irresponsible.
The whole plan came back to haunt the BATFE (ATF) and the entire administration, and gun-banners, by bring to light a huge liberal conspiracy to discredit America's legal gun dealers. when guns used to kill American border agents and civiliansin both America and Mexico, a cover-up ensued. But it was too late. The shocking facts regarding what has since come uout--and continues to come out is outrageous.
Why is there not a public outcry about thuis? It is being largely underplayed by the mainstream media, which supports banning guns due to their usual liberal ideologies. This is a case far more blaringly heavy-handed than even the Nixon White House. It is worse than Watergate. but where is the outrage!
